Vacuum regularly, never use the rotating brush when vacuuming the rug.

Remove stains with cleaning solution proper for wool using damp sponge or cloth applied gently. Do not rub the stain.

*Professional carpet cleaning when needed. (Only hand washing with cold water recommended as laid on flat clean surface. Do not rub the rug with brush – this will damage the fibers and cause felting and pilling. Only use cleaning solutions and softeners proper for wool. Rinse the rug with cold water. Do not use high pressurized water. Remove the water by hand with proper wiper as laid on flat surface. Hang the rug along length on a proper hanger rod. Let the rug dry naturally. Do not stretch or clap any edges or corners when wet or damp. It can otherwise lose shape and uniformity. Choose dry and warm weather to wash and dry your rug. Please contact us for any further advice.)

Safety
You can use anti-slip underlay under the rug for increased safety.

Color fastness to light / sunlight
Turak kilims are made with undyed wool. Undyed wool will have no fade or change in colour when exposed to light / sunlight - contrary to dyed wool.

Dimensional stability
Turak kilims go through a hand washing process with only cold water and 100% natural softener for a natural scent, and finally dried under the sun. Dimensional stability / shrinkage is approximately 2% under cold water.

Wool properties
Wool is hypoallergenic-contrary to popular belief. A good thermal and acoustic insulator. Wool fibres can absorb large quantities of water and regulate humidity. Wool is naturally odour resistant due to the fibre's unique properties. Wool offers coziness and comfort.

Wool has a natural scent. This scent might become stronger under humidity and without proper ventilation. You can use natural lavender products for a nice scent and as moth repellent.

When opening a newly purchased rug, wool odor can be higher due to being in a package for a time during shipping. With enough ventilation, it will go away in a few days.
